Is America Getting Dumber?

7

You guys, I’m sorry but I could not help publishing this…if you saw it, good for you, if you didn’t, I think it’s time. The worst thing is that it comes from ‘inside’…I’m thinking I might want to write a book now too. ;) But I might not get any sales…people don’t like reading about this…hell, they don’t even read at all…but if they do, I’m sure it would take a long time to sink in. Yikes! :-S

Highlights:
- Hey, ‘I thought Europe was a country’…OMG
- Is this chicken or fish? Oh ma Gah!
- Mr. Potter?!…hilarious!
-’Knowlege is power’…but LIKE who’s he?
- Well, of course they’re proud…thus the Romanian expression ‘Nu esti prost destul pana nu esti si fudul’ (transl: ‘U’re not a real/enough idiot until u’r proud of it’)
- ‘Dumbness is us’…wow…now that’s a well spoken woman
- ‘People don’t have enough time to read 600 pg books’…nice excuse, but who said reading a 600 pg book gets u smarter…it might open u to some new ideas…but this problem is far beyond reading a book…it’s about the capability
-’We’re too busy’…here we go again…but not busy enough to play video games where u get to shoot aliens in their green head…oh, not to mention this behavior is reinforced by the parents who play along…too busy…
- Oh, the new technology…yes, it was created to make our knowledge easier to digest…but not for most people…let’s watch Paris’ sex tape
- Man, I love Noah trying to make up excuses…way to go Susan…smart and to the point

- My advice: let’s just stick to teaching English and where the US is located…u know, the basics…

Hi, guys! Alreera, you might get a little racist in here, but it’s no use in hiding behind the bush when we know this is the sad truth with this country. This guy is desperately trying to make up excuses…they are not excuses maybe for 15-20% of the US population, but for the rest…Ok, you don’t know where Iraq is….but Europe is a country? My god! People should stop living in denial (”We don’t need to know this crap”) and start knowing the basics of this life, otherwise you have been a walking potato who loved lipstick more than its own brain. I’m so ashamed sometimes…lucky me I’m realistic enough to see I don’t have to put an equal sign between me and the majority of my country.

LOL, I so saw that coming, Aleera! I’m LIKE very amazed and so LIKE not surprised at the same time by these words of wisdom! And I do remember someone repeating “EDUCATION!” three times in a row ;) I also have an alternative to your Romanian saying: Prostu’ nu-i prost destul pana nu se da in stamba. Not going to translate that, almost the same thing. So…two sad facts from my p.o.v.: more than half of Americans are plain dumb and a little less than half of Americans are actually foreigners at origins. :) ) You draw the conclusions :D

As one of our readers commented, I would like to point out that I definately do not agree w/ the American lifestyle, but I do believe the US is a better place to live than many other countries. But again, one would have to have lived in that ‘other’ country in order to realize the advantages America offers…and again, coming back to Dariana’s comment, most of the people that understand and try to make the best out of those are the foreigners…and you know what, I don’t mind at all. ;) I actually do believe some Americans are very smart and innovative, but it’s the common people that do not even have the minimum amount of common sense…that’s where everything else comes from. And I am sorry if some of you think I’m racist…far from what I am trying to be…but in the end ‘the reasonable’ people know that I am right. Sorry if it sounds harsh, but welcome to my world…I do not beat around the bush. My conclusion is that you cannot ask for something superior from a person who is not capable of delivering.

Right. I thought so. I mean I knew you couldn’t be a racist, otherwise you wouldn’t have been living among Americans. I also liked the way you detailed and I believe you are right. And don’t worry, most of the times truth hurts but hey, not your problem!

I just laughed at this one. I saw some other videos on the same matter too, but this one makes a good selection.

I’m thinking Americans wouldn’t have gotten that far if they were dumb. Pragmatism should not be considered lack of intelligence.

But I won’t deny that our educational system is not the best in the world. It just promotes going one way and going good instead of going ten ways, having a little of everything, but never enough to do something good with it.
