First thing’s first: I believe in God and I am a religious person (not addict, but a believer).

wiwau101.jpgThis post is based on an unfortunate even which happened today somewhere in the US. An 11 year old girl, Madeline Neumann, died from an undiagnosed, treatable form of diabetes after her parents chose to pray for her rather than take her to a doctor. This thing happened before, in Romania as well. The thing is that the parents were part of a religious organization which denies the benefits of medicine and only rely on the power of God.

Here’s what I think: medicine, healing practices, those people who study years and years in medical schools, colleges and universities, they are left on this Earth by God, in order to  help others out, for Heaven’s sake! How can you deny a child such treatment if researches say it is effective, if other children have managed to cope with the disease just fine? Just because one of the rules of YOUR religion says this? I think IT IS ABSURD and you, as a person, as a human being possessing a brain, a heart and a soul, you should know better! Offering treatment, going to the doctors to see what is wrong with you, this is a normal thing and this also is allowed by God. What on earth is wrong with these people? Are they still living in the 2nd century? I’m sorry if I don’t understand this…I’m sure it’s not only me who doesn’t.

And this is what the girl’s mother stated after an investigation has started on the case: Leilani Neumann said that she and her family believe in the Bible and that healing comes from God, but that they do not belong to an organized religion or faith, are not fanatics and have nothing against doctors.

Well in this case, you are ignorant and stupid!
